Building God's Temple - Rain or Shine

Greetings to all in our Paris, TX church! We've been looking forward to our training weekend with you. Unfortunately we can't meet in person, since Texas has gone viral. In response, we've gone virtual. Thanks for the continued opportunity to bring you the word of life and gospel training online in lieu of our in-person event. I've laid out the program - videos, materials, and instructions - for you on this page.

Please enjoy your training program. Thank you for sponsoring this event and for any donations you may be giving for this ministry.

Outreach Activity: One Hour (or more)

Outreach Activity - The Need

Outreach activity changes you and me. It gets us active in working along-side Jesus Christ ("Go ye...lo, I am with you always" - Matthew 28:18-20). It gives spiritual exercise, breathes life into the soul through contact with God, and does the soul-saving work most needed for this time to reach those outside of Christ and His truth, so they can prepare for His coming. It is an act of faith (faith + works = real living faith). After completing sessions 1-3, I believe you'll sense the necessity of this activity, and by God's grace, take active part in it. No matter the trouble in our world, the work of sowing gospel seed is essential.

The Activity

Working Together: Plan and do this outreach along with your pastor, preferably during this training event. Plan for at least an hour, perhaps more. Working alone is possible, but not recommended. I recommend you do this as a group activity. At minimum, have a partner with you on the same street, be in touch with each other, in view of, and pray together. Work together. Team activities are what the Lord encourages most, certainly for multiple reasons. One effective way is to have one or two people each take one side of a street, while one or two people take the other side. Work your way down it together (one side may be slightly ahead of the other, but no worries, it's never a race).

Sharing in Neighborhoods, during Covid-19: I recommend, during Covid-19, to simply do a book/literature delivery or drop to most doors. You needn't knock. But you can leave a kindly printed note (pre-prepared and printed) along with each piece of literature, for best results. Pick a neighborhood with streets and homes enough to keep you busy for your allotted outreach time. One near the church is great, or perhaps neighborhoods where members live. Either way, pray and God will lead you to the right place. Masks are your choice, but since you'll be outside, I personally recommend not wearing one during this activity, though simply maintaining your distances. The reason for this is, you're a stranger visiting a neighborhood - your smile, identity, friendliness, openness, and personality make a great difference when people see you. [I've seen and heard good results with unmasked outreach, and heard reports of some "masked" people receiving faces of concern and suspicion by approaching in this way. Pray, and work according to conscience]

Meeting People: Even with a "book drop"-style outreach, you will likely still talk with some people. They might be outside (working, driving up, leaving, etc.), or may see you and wish to talk. Or, you might feel impressed to knock on certain doors [after knocking or ringing you may desire to step back slightly, and carefully, to maintain safe/good distance]. Sometimes doors are open already and a screen is there, with people nearby (a simple "hello" and knock will be fine). Simply smile, be friendly, let people know you simply want to share some encouragement during these trying times, and you have a free "read" or gift to leave them. That's it. Nothing fancy or difficult. If desired, you may chat briefly, and pray for any people you meet (i.e. your Divine appointments). Don't stay too long, then be on your way. Wish them God's blessings.

Literature: I recommend some health and gospel literature. GLOW is great. SIGNS is great. You may also have something else, depending on your literature choices. Small books or tracts are ideal.

Enjoy your outreach activity and be safe! Blessings! God will bless and you'll be a blessing!
